Fiber optics cable : what is it ?

Fiber optic : what is it ? Technical Principle...
Let make the world faster with fiber optic

Fiber optic is the most powerful technology , It is a glass or plastic wire used as a guide to a light signal that will allow to transmit information and data at very high speed and without risk of disturbances.

Technical principle of fiber optic

The size of a hair (250 micrometers), the fiber-optic consists of a core and a silica sheath surrounded by a protection in which a signal emitted by laser diode (light wave) carries computer data to the speed of light.
The performance of the fiber continues to increase, both in terms of the reduction of the weakening of the links and the increase of the bandwidth. Black fiber has become today the essential support for very high speed transmission for businesses:
  • Cloud Access
  • Interconnection of local computer networks
  • Connection of remote sites
  • Computer back-up to Datacenters
  • The Use of many protocols (IP, FiberChannel ...)
The predominantly used black fiber is G652 single mode to ensure good data transmission quality. It is possible to multiplex the transmitted wavelengths and thus to pass more 100 simultaneous signals on the same cables at rates greater than 10 Gps each. The signal attenuation measurement and the transmission constraints define the architecture to be implemented: distances greater than 50km are possible by regeneration of the transmitted signal: it is thus possible to go around the earth in a few seconds. Advantage: no disturbance of the signal to electromagnetic waves.

The different types of fiber optic cables

The fiber optic are grouped into tubes (modulo 6FO or 12FO) and placed within protective cables (anti-rodents, anti-acids ...). These K209 feature cables can hold up to 144 FO. The laying of cables is done in tunnel, on cable way or sheath, in the sewers or by civil engineering ...

Network Architecture

Companys relies on the RATP rights-of-way to organize its network: highly meshed and very dense, it offers connection points every 300m and has 70,000 km of fiber optic cables for a better organization of network
