Shelter dog Who 𝖶aited 15 years to Get Аdopted Finally Finds Forever Home

When Chip entered a shelter, he was a 7-week-old puppy in need of a caring permanent family. He then waited for the following fifteen years.

Before being allowed to leave the Save-a-Pet Shelter in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on Thursday, Chip, a small gray dog, had spent virtually all of his life there.

One of Chip's admirers wrote earlier this week, "Chip has NEVER had a home, NEVER had a family to love and appreciate him, NEVER had someone to play with him or take him for walks, NEVER had a warm bed to sleep in or a human to cuddle up to."

Finally, Chip will have every canine want. On Thursday afternoon, as Jaco Rademeyer and Chip were preparing to take the small dog to his first home, the shelter shared a picture of their triumphant adoption.

Due to his health difficulties, Chip might not have many years left with his new family, but he will finally experience all the love and comfort he longs for. Although animal shelters do great things to assist the most in need animals, nothing can replace the love and bond that animals may share with their human family. Chip will now experience what that's like.

15 years in a shelter? What is wrong with people? If I lived there, I would have swooped him up long time ago.

Me too. No pet should go unadopted that long. I’m happy he’s finally going to experience real love.

If I worked at that shelter I would have adopted him long ago , poor guy, instead of leaving him there year after year.

I would have too. That dog should have been moved to a different facility that had a higher rate of adoption a long time ago. I am so sad he had to live that way with no family of his own. Horribly tragic.

Shocking that he was in a shelter for 15 years, I hope he has a good few years to enjoy being pampered.

It’s really a great thing to see him find a fur ever home. What I can’t get is why anyone could watch him sit waiting for 15yrs for love & a forever j home? I could never of walked out every night leaving him there. I would of adopted him years & years ago!
Bless this family for giving him what he should if had 14-1/2 yrs ago 🙏🏻

You would think a worker might foster him.

After that long he probably thought that was his home. Now he will be scared. But I’m happy he found a home to finish living his time

There is no excuse for that to happen!!!! An overlooked dog/cat should be moved to another facility that has a higher rate of adoption. That poor, poor dog.
