Abandoned, Malnourished Pit Bull Now On The Road To Recovery Thanks To Rescuers.

It's never easy to watch a dog abandoned by its owner, especially when the dog is in such poor condition. Fortunately, there are good individuals in the world who are ready to aid these horrible creatures.

That is exactly what happened recently when a pit bull was abandoned, very malnourished and unable to stand. Maggie, on the other hand, is finally getting better.

Maggie, an abandoned puppy, was welcomed by the Orange County Animal Shelter in Virginia on July 29. She was discovered by a citizen and was incredibly underweight, weighing just 27 pounds, half of what would be considered healthy, according to WVIR.

"Maggie was... practically lifeless; she couldn't move, stand up, or walk," Gina Jenkins, shelter director, told WVIR.

According to her, the dog had demodectic mange, conjunctivitis, and was slow and dehydrated.

Despite the fact that this is a horrifying example of animal cruelty, Jenkins expects the owner will remain anonymous. Instead, they are focusing on giving her the love and care she has never known: "No one is going to come forward. She'll be our first child."

Maggie is presently undergoing treatment and is on the mend, but due to her illness, it will take at least 3 to 4 months, and she may never fully recover her hair.

Regardless, everyone is determined to give this dog another opportunity. Her tale captivated internet users, who collected thousands of dollars for her care in less than 24 hours, well exceeding their fundraising target.

"Although she still has a long road ahead of her, she is improving every day," wrote the shelter on Facebook. "We'll keep you posted as she develops."

Despite the fact that she still has a long way to go, Maggie's spirits have been rising. After being subjected to so much violence and neglect, she's been settling in and making herself at home with food and blankets.

"She's doing very well.""Love, care, and nourishment can do incredible things for an animal," Jenkins told WVIR. "She adores her blankets and enjoys nesting in them."

Maggie's abandonment was heartbreaking, but we're pleased she's finally in wonderful hands and on the mend!

Please share this story to Maggie, along with your best wishes.
